What do we mean when we say “knighthood”?

We are knights. And we serve the most holy, beautiful, fair Lady of all times: The One who smashes the head of the serpent and brings salvation to us, thanks to her humble and obedient answer of acceptance to God’s request through the embassy of saint Gabriel the archangel. We are knights of our Lady Queen and Holy Mother of the Crusaders of All Times. We are part of a Knighthood order called The Immaculate Heart Knights, also known as Immaculate Heart Crusaders. Our knighthood is not like the modern knighthood the queen of England usually bestows upon antichristian pop stars. We are here to fight in defense of Virtue and Truth like our medieval forerunners.

We are the bravest and fiercest catholic warriors, consecrated to the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Kingship of our Lord Jesus Christ; engaged in reconquering the western culture, by divine grace, through writing and cultural commentary, for the kingdom of God; unapologetically and aggressively on the charge against liberalism, modernism, and the errors of Russia.

Now, let us explain what we do mean when we say that we are knights. According to the Larousse Enciclopédie “La chevalerie est apparue en Occident, à la fin du xe siècle, comme une catégorie sociale rassemblant les spécialistes du combat à cheval“, and its legal boundaries “se sont précisés peu à peu”, while “son prestige s’est accru, au point qu’elle s’est confondue, à des époques diverses selon les pays, avec la noblesse.”

The miles Christianus allegory (mid-13th century)

During the golden age of knighthood anyone mentally, physically and morally able to successfully complete the formation process, fulfill the duties, and incarnate the ethos of a noble Christian warrior could enter into a knighthood order. They should embody a set of Christian virtues which assembled together in an ideal of Christian perfection. Concerning this ethos of the knights the Larousse Enciclopédie adds:

The practical origins of European medieval Knighthood, according to Planet Wissen, go back to Charles Martel‘s army heroic defense of European Civilization against Arabic invaders, which was sealed with their legendary victory at Poitiers. Later, the knighthood would be fundamental for the creation, expansion, and safeguarding of Charlemagne‘s empire, with which Christendom attained one of is most important milestones in its pilgrimage through history towards the advent of the Kingdom of God upon the whole world:

The Catholic Church played a central role in the development of European Knighthood. It gave the noblemen and their servants permission to permanently take up arms in order to defend the European feudal values, and the societies based upon them. In this sense:

The Immaculate Heart Crusaders is a website based upon the values and virtues underpinning the historical development of knighthood in western European civilisation during the middle ages. We are committed to bravely and pridefully defend Western Christian Culture against its enemies inside European and American societies and outside them.

Tournament from the Codex Manesse, depicting the mêlée

We are miles Christianus donning the armour of God (charitas). Our helmet is that of spes futuri gaudii, our shield is that of fides (the shield of the Trinity); we wield the lance of perseverantia, and the sword of verbum Dei, under the banner of regni celestis desiderium. We ride upon the horse of bona voluntas, sitting upon the saddle of Christiana religio. Our mount is enveloped in the saddlecloth of humilitas, and the reins with keep within the grasp of our fists are those of discretio. The spurs with which we prompt our mounts are made of disciplina while our stirrups are those of propositum boni operis. The four hooves of our horse are respectively called delectatio, consensus, bonum opus, and consuetudo. Our weapons serve to the good cause of the Kingdom of God. We use them to fence off the enemies of Christ the King and the Immaculate Heart of our Lady of the Crusaders of all times; fighting to the death, against vices, heresies, and the ideological devices of the antichristian army.
